How to Become an AI Governance Professional

Step 1: What is AIGP Program?

The AIGP program was created to officially recognize individuals specializing in AI governance. Possessing the AIGP credential demonstrates a foundational grasp of AI governance principles and a thorough understanding of best practices for the ethical administration of AI systems, applicable not only in the U.S. and EU but also in other jurisdictions.

Step 2: How to Prepare for The Test?

Subject areas Tested include:

• Foundations of AI — encompassing essential terms and definitions, distinctions among various AI systems, AI use cases, and the historical development of AI.

• AI impacts and principles — addressing the identification of risks and harms associated with unregulated AI systems, features of ethical AI, responsible AI governance, and risk management.

• AI laws and life cycle — exploring the intersection of current laws with AI usage, major frameworks, existing and upcoming global regulations (such as the EU AI Act and Canada’s Bill C-27), as well as AI system planning, design, development, implementation, testing, and maintenance.

• Awareness and accountability — delving into the liabilities of AI systems, user concerns, monitoring procedures, auditing practices, and adaptation strategies to evolving standards.

VII. Addressing Persistent Issues and Concerns

A. Stay informed about legal issues.

B. Be conscious of user concerns.

C. Acknowledge AI auditing and accountability issues.

Step 3: Exam Information & How to Register

The AIGP consists of a three-hour examination with 100 items. The majority of these items are multiple-choice, encompassing both stand-alone questions and those linked to AI case studies. Additionally, there are alternative item types that necessitate rearranging answer options into a specific order or categories. The exam does not include any essay questions, and each correct answer is assigned one point.

The IAPP provides exam options through computer-based delivery at over 6,000 testing centers globally, or you have the flexibility to take your certification exam remotely with online proctoring. While remote proctoring is presently offered for exams in various languages, it necessitates sufficient English proficiency for communication with exam proctors. For comprehensive details on exam registration and exam-day guidelines, please refer to the IAPP Certification Information Candidate Handbook, available on this website:  https://iapp.org/certify/
