PIPEDA Findings #2021-003 March 30, 2021
The complainants in this matter contacted the OPC subsequent to the breach of their personal information held by the Bank of Montreal (BMO). OPC investigation found that BMO’s online banking software had significant weaknesses in its technical safeguards, which allowed the attackers to orchestrate a large-scale breach of approximately 113,000 accounts.
